From the Tattoo Idea to Choosing the Right Artist & How the Appointment Works

You’re planning your first appointment with me? Yayyy 🙂
Here’s an overview of how tattoo appointments with me usually work:
Research – Who Is the Right Tattoo Artist for Me?
Before deciding on a tattoo with any artist, make sure to thoroughly check their profile. Look at the tattoos they’ve done—and especially at healed tattoos (the older, the better).
Important points:
- You genuinely like the artist’s style and would love to wear that kind of tattoo yourself.
- Personal recommendations from friends are always great—you can see the tattoo live and unretouched.
- Communication with the artist feels easy and you have a good feeling about it.
- I get to be your tattoo artist—you like my designs, my style, and the tattoos I’ve done so far. Let’s talk about the motif you have in mind!

Choosing the Motif & Placement
If you already have a clear idea, feel free to send me a detailed text or reference images from Pinterest, etc. Be specific about which elements you like and which you don’t. I will always create a personal design based on your input so you receive your own unique tattoo. I’m happy to follow your ideas and vision closely.
You’re welcome to send AI-generated images so I can better understand your idea—but I won’t copy them 1:1.
If you don’t have a specific idea yet, take a look at my Flash Gallery. You’ll find many ready-made designs there that can either be tattooed exactly as they are or slightly modified to fit your wishes.
It’s helpful if you already have a body placement and size (in cm) in mind. The bigger the tattoo, the better it can be “read” and understood from a distance. A good tattoo design should be understandable at first glance—not something people need to puzzle over.
Feel free to send photos of the body area you’d like tattooed (e.g., arm, thigh, etc.), so I can adapt the design directly to your body. You’ll be able to see right away whether you like it!
If I send you a design and you find it awful—no problem at all 🙂
Please explain exactly what you don’t like and what you do like. You’re welcome to mark things directly in the design. It’s important that you’re 100% happy with your tattoo. Multiple rounds of feedback are absolutely fine.

Deposit
If I create a custom design for you or we schedule an appointment, I’ll ask for a deposit—usually €50.
This shows me that you’re serious about the appointment and allows me to begin planning and designing your tattoo. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced appointments being missed or custom designs being created without a booking taking place.
Rescheduling: Please let me know at least 48 hours before your appointment if you need to reschedule. Your deposit will simply transfer to the new date.
Cancellations under 48 hours or no-shows: The deposit will be forfeited. It compensates for the time and work already invested in your design. Refunds are not possible.
Thank you for your understanding—this helps me manage my time fairly and focus fully on your project.
If I cancel within 48 hours:
If I have to cancel last-minute (for example due to illness), you will of course receive your deposit back immediately.
If you’re open to rescheduling, I’ll gladly offer you a generous discount when we meet 🙂
Tattoo Day! 🥳
We’ve scheduled an appointment? Yes!
You can check out my blog post on how to prepare perfectly for your tattoo appointment.
Appointment Process
Please arrive on time or let me know as early as possible if you’re running late.
After greeting you, I’ll show you the studio. If anything makes you feel uncomfortable or you have questions—please speak up!
Stencil
You’ve already chosen an approximate size. I’ll prepare different size options (your requested cm size plus slightly bigger/smaller versions for comparison). Together we’ll decide which size looks best.
These “stamps” serve as the tattoo template and are called a stencil.
Want it slightly bigger or smaller? Of course! We’ll take our time to find the perfect placement.

Cleaning & Shaving
The area to be tattooed will be cleaned and shaved. Then I’ll apply vegan stencil fluid so the design adheres to your skin.
If you realize you’d prefer a different placement or size—tell me immediately. We can remove the stencil with disinfectant. The earlier it’s removed, the fewer residues remain.

Consent Form & Aftercare Instructions
While the stencil is drying, you’ll fill out the consent form. You confirm that you’re healthy, not currently taking medication, not under the influence of drugs, and of legal age.
You’ll receive printed aftercare instructions to take home.
Tattooing & Products Used
The tattoo station is disinfected and fully prepared before you arrive. Needles come from sterile single-use packaging opened right before tattooing. All equipment is wrapped in foil or disposable covers that are applied before the appointment and disposed of afterward.
During tattooing, I always wear nitrile gloves, which are changed regularly.
I purchase my tattoo inks from Premier Products Store Berlin at Alexanderplatz. This ensures they comply with current EU regulations. A staff member even told me the shop independently sends inks to a partner lab to verify manufacturer specifications.
Instead of Vaseline, I use Ink-Eeze Green Glide (vegan) during tattooing—and I can give you a small sample for aftercare.
For cleaning, I use Super Foam (vegan) and green soap diluted in sterile water.
If needed, I may redraw parts of the stencil using a skin marker that contains no methanol or toxic substances (according to the manufacturer) and is specifically made for tattooing. These pens are single-use per tattoo. You’re welcome to keep it afterward; otherwise, I’ll dispose of it.
Breaks
If you feel uncomfortable or need a break—please tell me. You’ll get drinks and snacks, and we’ll pause. If you’re really hungry, we can organize food.
Please let me know immediately if you feel dizzy or your circulation feels unstable.
The Tattoo Is Finished
At the end, you’ll carefully check your finished tattoo. Want some areas darker? Let me know and we’ll perfect the details according to your wishes.
If no allergies are known, I’ll wrap the fresh tattoo in Dermalize (Second Skin) foil. It works like a protective film bandage that can stay on for the first few days—even showering is possible. You’ll receive printed aftercare instructions.
Payment
Payment is made at the end—I always appreciate real cash!
If you’re especially happy, tips are welcome but absolutely not expected.
Quality Control
I’m happy to schedule a “quality control” appointment 4–6 weeks after your tattoo.
If we don’t book a touch-up appointment right away, you can contact me within one year for a free touch-up. Sometimes ink may fade slightly in certain areas—this will be corrected. This appointment is 100% free.
Photos
Gold for a tattoo artist: photos of healed tattoos. The older, the better.
I’m happy to take photos during the quality control appointment. But I’m also thrilled if you contact me again after a year or longer. We can meet for coffee, I’ll check your tattoo, and take some pictures.
Since I’m regularly at Berlin markets, you’re also welcome to visit me there. I’ll definitely be happy to see you again!
€50 Discount for Client Referrals
You recommended me and your referral led to a tattoo?
Please tell your friend to mention your name during their appointment—and you’ll receive a big discount on your next tattoo.
